BEVERLY DENISE DAVENPORT a.k.a. "Susie," was born on December 16, 1956 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the parents of James E. Hughes and the late Hattie Mae Simms Hughes. After becoming ill, she departed this life on September 8, 2013 from a short illness. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and a graduate from Coppin State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management in 1982. She was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She worked many years at Baltimore Housing Partnership assisting many Baltimore residents to obtain affordable housing. She also worked for Zurich, *NA She was an active member of Post #19 Women Auxiliary, Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoyed a good party, family gatherings, spending time with friends and really enjoyed cooking for all. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Walter Davenport; daughter, Patrice Davenport; stepdaughter, Kimberly Thomas (husband, Antione Thomas, Sr.); father, James E. Hughes; brothers, Jerry Hughes (wife, Brenda Hughes), James Hughes (wife, Nancy Hill-Hughes), Muallah Bey (wife, Wanda Bey), Edward Payton (wife, Wanda Payton), Robert Hughes and Garry Hughes; two sisters, Mavis Hughes-Gibson (husband, Aaron Gibson) and Tracie Hughes-Lyon (husband, Rudy Lyon); her grandchildren, Isaiah Smith, Hassan Smith, Imir Smith, Arnold K. Smith, III, Kyana Wilcox, Arkia Parker, Antione Thomas, Jr., Cameron Thomas and Jason Thomas; great-grandson, Zayden Keith Smith; her surrogate sister, Lynette Lane; and a host of other relatives and friends.
