Obituary

Beverly Ann Wright(nee Scriber),a retired media account executive, died October 7 at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a long illness.ThewestBaltimore native was 69.





Beverly was adaughter of the late ClarenceScriber, a longshoreman,andhis wife,EthelRoyal,a beautician.A1970 graduate ofNorthwestern HighSchool,Beverlygraduated with a bachelor'sdegreein Englishfrom Coppin State College.





While at Coppin, Beverly earned an internship in the WJZ-TV newsroom.Following graduation,shejoined WJZ full timeon the traffic deskin the television station's sales department. In 1980,Beverlyjoined the sales department of the Baltimore Afro-American newspaper as an account executive.Shortly afterwards, shemoved to radio sales at WPOCandrose to the position of Sales Manager.During her illustrious career, Beverly worked in the Baltimore and Washington DC media markets at a variety of top stations, includingRadio One, WLIF, andWYPR in Baltimore and WBIG in Washington, DC.She also spent several years as an account executive at the Baltimore Catholic Review.Beverly was a consummate professional,whobuilt hera reputationon developingstrongandlong-lasting business relationships with her clients.She retired in 2009 after more than 30 years in the business.





Shealsomet her husband, Matthews William Wrightwhile attending CoppinandonMay21,1977 the couple married.Together, theyrearedtwo children,Aisha,and Jason. Beverly was a loving mother,anddevoted sister. Her relational skills went beyond her business affiliations as she had a gift for making and maintaining friendships, some of which she formed in her west Baltimorecommunitythatremain today.





In addition to her acumenfor business,Beverlywas creative at heart. She lovedballet,moderndance,thevisualarts, and she was adept at craft activities.Oftenshegifted family and friends with beadwork, short stories,poems, and sewn items.Beverly enjoyed traveling, cooking, and fashion. She was alwaysin vogue,in herattire, whetherfor acasual or festive occasion.Shealsoset a beautiful table,and was a"go to" person,when it came to hosting and planning an intimate dinner or family event.





Beverlywas a strong and life-long Catholic. She received her sacraments at St. PeterClaverCatholic Church and as an adult attended services at St. Edwards Catholic Church and St. Jude Shrine Catholic Church in downtown Baltimore. Shelived her faith each day!Beverly leaves to cherish her precious memoriesaloving family; herhusbandof 44 years,daughter Aisha Wright-Burke (Jenero) of Sandy Springs, Georgia; son, JasonM.R.Wright; sisters, ClariceScriberPhillips (Irving);ElizabethS.Case (Raymund); niece Ryan Case(and partner, Sean Hanley); nephews,Webster Phillips, III, Christian Case,and Jeremy Case, all of Baltimore;sisters-in-law, Verna Dorsey,and Shirley Parker;anda host of relatives and friends.Aprivate celebration of her lifeis planned for the spring.
