Obituary

Brannon Everett Powell, earthly home dissolved on April 9,2020 when his soul departed to its new home in heaven. Brannon was born on April,2, 1985 to Donna Torry Riley and the late Lonnie Powell in Baltimore, Maryland. He was reared from age 8 by his mother and stepfather Reginal H. Riley.

Brannon received a Maryland High School diploma from Mergenthaler Vocational Technical (MERVO) High School in June 2003. His love for football and sharing his passion for the sport began in his freshman year at MERVO where by graduation he was awarded the "Most Athletic, All American and Scholar Athlete of the Year for 2003." He was a faithful 49ers fan! After completing his freshman year, at Delaware State, Brannon came back to Baltimore and began his 16-year career as a paraeducator forstudents with emotional disabilities in Baltimore City Public Schools. During his first week of his career as a one-on-one he had to chase his student down Martin Luther King Blvd. Brannon called his cousin, Nia and asked, "How in the world do you do this?" She just laughed, nevertheless, Brannon stuck it out. He was even getting up early to go to his student's home so that he could ride the "cheese bus" with him to school. Brannon loved his students so much that he took whatever training available to help him better service students with special needs. He even became a lifeguard so that he could teach his students to swim so that they could competein the Special Olympics.Ifyou knew Brannon, you knew that he did in fact love his job.

Brannon was a family man that had a special relationship witheveryone in his family. He loved to dance, play cards, eat crabs andlaugh with his family. Brannon and his cousin Maisha had a bondthatthere are not enough words to express. From birth, they wereraised as brother and sisters, much closer than cousins, and thisbondwas unbreakable. On Mother's Day he would always cook for thefamily just to show his appreciation. Brannon has two daughters, Branae and Zyaire, that meant the world to him. He lovedthem and would do anything to make them smile. However,Brannon's heartbeat was always and forever will be his mother,Donna. Donna and Brannon talked every day three or four times aday laughing, joking, and confiding in one another. Donna was more thanjust a mother; she was his best friend, her only child, theone she lovedthemost. Twenty plus years ago Brannon got his bonusfather (ReginaldRiley); the one whotaughthim how to tie his first tie, howtofightand how totreat alady.
