Obituary

Brenda Landonia Cromartie (nee Holmes) was born on November 27th 1942 in West Chester, PA to Minerva Holmes and Thomas Holden.

When she was approximately four years old the family moved to Nor- thumberland County, Virginia. In 1949 they moved to Baltimore, Maryland. She attended William Alexander Elementary School, Booker T. Washington Junior High School and Frederick Douglas Senior High School from which she graduated in June 1961. Brenda was an excellent student and stayed on the honor role. In the sixth grade she won an award for reciting from memory a lengthy poem called "The Wreck of the Hesperus". After high school she attended Cortez Peter's Business for two years.

Shortly thereafter, she was employed by the federal government - working for the Internal Revenue' Service. For better career opportunities, she transferred to the Social Security Administration from which she retired in the 1990's.

In 1965 she married Haywood Deniton. This union produced her one and only child - a son Brennan Shawn Deniton. She later married Carl Cromartie.

She is survived by: her son, Brennan Shawn Deniton; her granddaughter, Shawnika Deniton; grandsons, Daron Deniton and Sean Deniton, great grandchildren, Kennedy and Micah. She also leaves to mourn her close and loving cousin, Wanda Marva Braxton- King, who cared for her during this debilitating illness - along with five sisters, Barber A. Horton, Cyneithia L. Boulware, Jacqueline R. Wilson, Robin T. Vick and Randy T. Carter and their spouses and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed for her wit and sense of humor - she loved to laugh. Rest well dear sister until John 5:28 and 29 is fulfilled.
