IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda
Hicks
November 5, 1938 – June 17, 2022
Brenda Hicks, the fourth of seven children, was born to the late George
and Gloria Hicks on November 5, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. She fell
asleep on June 17, 2022.
On September 2, 1961, a major change took place in Brenda's life. On this
date, she symbolized her dedication to her God by being baptized as one
of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Brenda trained and laid the foundation for her two children to serve
Jehovah. She would always have their family study and made sure they
were at the meetings, rain or sunshine, by bus or by walking. Brenda
enjoyed taking her children out in the ministry. Her sister Gloria and
brother-in-law Alphonso provided transportation to the assemblies, the
conventions at Yankee Stadium in New York City, and every Sunday, to the
roller skating rink. On regular occasions, she would meet with her sisters
Gloria and Sheila for the ministry. She vacation pioneered (as auxiliary
pioneering was called at the time) in North Carolina with her best friends.
In addition, Brenda worked seldom worked territory in Bavarde, North
Carolina and Bradford County, Pennsylvania. She would auxiliary pioneer from time to time during the summer months. Even though she was ill, she
would still engage in the ministry by writing letters with her daughter and informal witnessing at her place of residence.
Brenda liked to travel with her other sister Carolyn, especially going on cruises and trips to Florida. She enjoyed her sister's cooking, but especially eating her famous biscuits and just spending time with her.
Brenda also liked to dance and listening to oldies but goodies. Brenda appreciated her nephew Antoine Sr who would bring her dinner twice a week and her niece Keena who would call her everyday to see how she was doing. Her son-in-law Cornell shared in taking her to her doctor appointments, then they would go to eat breakfast afterward.
One of Brenda's greatest joys was to help aid her granddaughter who was named after her, Brenda, in the truth and to see her serving at Bethel. She always looked forward to her granddaughter's visits.
Although we will miss her dearly, we know she will sleep just for a little
