IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda L.
Woods-Smith
May 6, 1946 – January 26, 2019
Brenda Louise Woods-Smith (Macklin), daughter of the late Naomi E.
.. Spivey Homell and Robert H. Maclin, was born on May 6,1946 in
Baltimore, Maryland. She peacefully exchanged time for eternity on
January 26,2019, after a battle with illness. Brenda was educated in the
Baltimore City Public School system. She graduated from Frederick
Douglass Senior High School in 1964. Brenda accepted Christ at an
early age and was baptized at a church near her Clifton Ave. home. An
immaculate dresser and dreamer, Brenda pursued a career in the
modeling industry after graduation. She was a model at the Diana Kane
Modeling Company, and later became employed as a modeling
instructor; teaching others to pursue their dreams as well. In 1965 she
married her high school sweetheart William Woods.
Given Brenda's further aspirations, changed careers and began
working for Westinghouse until 1968. After her time there, she started
.. working for Sealand Shipping Services. As a result of Brenda's
willingness and dedication to succeed, she pursued an Associate's
Degree in Business Management. After rigorous efforts, balancing
home and work, she received her degree, and was promoted as an
Administrative Manager. During her employment at Sealand, Brenda
also received her a license in Real Estate in the State of Maryland.
Brenda retired from Sealand after 20 years of service receiving
numerous accolades.
Brenda was known for her charismatic, outgoing, and joyous
personality, which made hera unique individual with a loving passion to
advocate unselfishly for others who were in need of help. She spent
many years as a caregiver for her Aunt Dot, and served as the president
for family services at Future Care.
Brenda met the love of her life Waverly R. "Brother" Smith through his
sister and her good girlfriend, Lucy Johnson; later the two married.
Brenda loved Waverly and he loved her . You couldn't think of one
without the other- they were truly one. They coined the name "Brother .
& Brenda".
Brenda loved to entertain. She and Waverly often hosted all the family
social events and she was the life of every party. Brenda also loved
animals! Bubbles the dog was a well know part of the family for years
and was the face of the Smith family Christmas card.
Some of the most unforgettable memories her family has is of her
arriving to every family gathering, fashionably late, especially during
the holiday season with gifts for everyone. She had a special place in her
heart for everyone she loved. Brenda was a trendsetter and a trailblazer-
