IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian Thomas
Mason
February 11, 1981 – October 6, 2024
Brian Thomas Mason, son of Thomas and Barbara Mason, was born on February 13,1981, and took
flight from his earthly journey on October 6, 2024. Mr. Thomas Mason and Ms. Barbara Wells met one another, fell in love, and married. From this union, Brian Thomas Mason entered the world. Brian grew up on Bentalou Street in West Baltimore. He was always a vibrant, outspoken, gentle giant of a soul. It was during this time that he met three young men and a bond would be formed, and they became lifelong friends: George (Man), Jermel (Tony), and Radon. As childhood friends these young men would make a lasting impression within the community with different outreach programs that are still remembered today.
From the cleaning of the neighborhood, and helping those with limited abilities, they would settle down after their busy day and eat snacks, pizza, play pool, and Nintendo until Mr. Thomas would come home at 4:pm to put them out. Brian's parents loved him immensely and instilled greatness in him. As a child he began experimenting in the kitchen and he discovered his culinary gifts. He began cooking for family members who in turn would use his recipes, and reached out to him for culinary advice. It was during Brian's childhood that he began to attend his family's church, Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ under the pastorate of the late Dr. Samuel Ray. It was while there that Brian accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and began to serve in the Usher's Ministry along with his father. He was also part of the music ministry playing various instruments.
Brian served in the kitchen and eventually was placed in charge of the kitchen. While attending Edmondson Westside High School, Brian became a key member of the football team under several coaches. Brian was also a member of the Marching Band, where he played various instruments, which played different genres of music under the leadership of Mr. Stanley Brown where he and Selina Adger met and became friends. After completing high school, Brian matriculated to Baltimore International College (BIC) where he majored in Culinary Arts. It was while attending (BIC) that he encountered former band mate Selina Adger. After graduating in 2001, Brian and Selina went their separate ways. It was during this time that he met and married Tamara D. Featherstone and to this union was born Ember, Brian, and Derrick.
In 2011 the paths of Brian and Selina crossed again, and on September 29, 2013, they were united in Holy Matrimony. Brian became employed with Golden Corral as a Restaurant Manager from 2011 to 2012. Due to a short illness he had to leave Golden Corral. When Brian re-entered the work force, he became employed with Johns Hopkins Hospital as the Operations Manager of OSK Kitchen. Brian remained employed with Johns Hopkins Hospital until 2014 when he was forced to retire due to ill health. In 2012, Detrich and Delia Weems were instrumental in Brian and Selina attending and becoming part of the ministry of Rehoboth Light of the World Church under the pastorate of Pastor Benjamin F. Long. Jr. Brian was part of the Usher's, and Men's Ministry, along with the Praise Team.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Barbara Mason and his son, Kenneth Mason. Brian leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Selina J. Mason, his children, Ember M. Mason, his sons, Brian D.T. Mason, and Derrick J. Mason. His aunts: Peggy Weems, Evelyn Lawson (Herbert), Darlene Florence (Thomas), Brenda Yancy (Fred), Joann Chase, Francis Chase, and Patricia Chase. His uncles: Joseph Blue, Preston Wells (Cynthia), Darnell Wells (Angela), Michael Wells (Leslie). His cousins: Detrich Weems (Delia), Leo Weems, Marcus Florence, Craig Wells, Precious Wells, and Marquita Hopkins (Wade). His brothers: George Pate, Jermel Cox, Radon Spence, Michael Featherstone, Matthew Featherstone, Sherman Eaddy, Dante Baker, Dr. Corey J. Henderson (Sharhonda), and a host of other relatives and friends.
