Obituary

Calvin Jerome Holmes, son of the late Margaret Holmes and Leo Bal- lard was born on August 2, 1955 in Greenwood, Mississippi. God called him home on Friday, December 6, 2013. He received his education in Baltimore, Maryland where he received his High School Diploma at Alyssa Crossland High School in 1975. Later in life, he attended John Hopkins Medical School in Baltimore, Maryland where he became certified as a Medical Technician. He worked in the medical field for many years as well as performing private medical duty assignments. Prior to becoming disable due to kidney fail- ure, he worked for Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. After be- coming disabled, he attended Baltimore Community College where he successfully completed several college courses. He came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, Sep- tember 2004. He was a faithful member of Greater Works Kingdom Ministries and a Charter member. Jerome enjoyed drawing, designing clothes and shoes. He definitely had artistic abilities. Jerome enjoyed being around family and friends. He also, enjoyed working out at the neighborhood YMCA in Baltimore. He enjoyed caring for the sick and disabled. He cared for his neighbor, a gentleman who was wheel chaired bound and disabled. He also care for a young lady who was wheel chaired bound and paralyzed until she passed away. She really enjoyed his company whenever he came around to say hello or just to care for her. In October 2013, Jerome was diagnosed with lung cancer which had metastasized to the brain and bone areas in his body. Through the radiation and chemo treatments, he kept the faith and looked to God for peace and strength. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Margaret Holmes; his grand- mother, Rosie Holmes who raised him; three uncles, L. C. Holmes, Austin Holmes and Rufus Carter, and aunt Potram Armstrong. Jerome leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Patricia Foster (Anthony Foster) of Woodbridge, Virginia; his aunt, Gardine Friday of Baltimore, Mary- land; two nieces, Naomi Johnson and Jessica Hall, five great nieces/nephews and a host of cousins and many, many friends.
