Calvin Jackson was born in Newport News, Virginia to Elizabeth Jackson on November 26, 1934. He transitioned to be with the Lord on December 17, 2017.
Calvin was the younger of two brothers, and had many memories of moving to Maryland and attending elementary and high school in Baltimore. He was very helpful and did small chores for neighbors and his mother to help his family. After completing high school, he decided to join the US Army. He received an honorable discharge in 1963.
In 1957, Calvin was hired by the MTA as a bus driver. He developed many friendships and achieved the title of Superintendent of Transportation after many years of working his way up the ladder. He retired in 1995 after 38 years of service.
In 1965, Calvin married Margaret D. Stoakley and continued to be active in his community and family. They enjoyed entertaining family and friends until her death in 2008.
In the 1970's, he joined the Hiram Grand Lodge and became the Director of the Hiram Glee Club. During his tenure, they recorded several songs and were sought after for their harmony and beautiful arrangements.
In addition, Calvin was known for his vocal artistry, musical talents and engaging personality.
He enjoyed playing golf, traveling, and collecting exotic sports cars, including a Rolls Royce (His Favorite).
After the death of his wife, he became reacquainted with his friend of many years, Frances Thomas. They became constant companions, enjoying life and socializing with their friends and families.
In his later years, health challenges slowed his body, but his spirit remained cheerful and strong. Calvin Jackson will be remembered as a remarkable and unforgettable presence to all who knew him.
