Calvin Joseph Matthews, son of the late Annie Pearl Matthews and Louis Hodes was born on August 5, 1951 in Jackson Mississippi. He departed this life on frida, September 3, 2010. His aunt, the late Rosie B. Dartez and his grandmother, the late Tryonia Matthews, raised him. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. He worked for various businesses ajnd was employed until his hospitalization just before his passing. He met his significant other, Deborah Nelson on November 25, 1990, and their spiritual union continues even after his passing. Calvin enjoyed the abundance of life and did not hesitate to seize it whenever possible. He lived life on his terms. He was endeared by many. He leaves to cherish his memory; his significant other, Deborah Nelson; his sons, Corey and C.J.; one granddaughter; eight siblings, Bonnie, florence, Theresa, Doris, Dbra, Robert, Michael and Kim; brother-in-law, william curry; nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
