Calvin
Richardson
May 15, 1938 – September 6, 2017
Calvin L. Richardson was born on May 15, 1938. Calvin was
the oldest four children born to Ruby and Edward
Richardson.
Calvin received his formal education in Baltimore City Public
Schools. Fearless and ready for a life of adventure, Calvin
joined the military after graduation. Calvin served in both the
US Army and the US Marines.
After leaving the military, Calvin worked for the Maryland
State Department of Corrections as an admired and respected
correctional officer until he retired. He was known for his
punctuality and strong work ethic.
During his retirement, Calvin enjoyed cooking, listening to
jazz, spending time with his family, and watching the
Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.
Known for his quick wit and sarcasm, Calvin was always
ready to engage in an intelligent conversation or a spirited
debate.
After a brief but valiant battle, Calvin passed peacefully on
September 06,2017.
Calvin is survived by his wife Frances; five children, Norman
Ladson, Delcina Gaines, Desiree Steward, Teri Richardson-
Purdie and Tia Richardson; one daughter in-law LaJuan
Ladson; three son in-laws, George Gaines, Dayson Purdie
and Michael Steward; four grandchildren, Shirdere Steward,
Shawn Gaines, Shiray Steward and Shiree Steward; and one
great grandchild, Christian Williams.
Calvin was proceeded in death by one daughter, Rivera
Pearson.
