Obituary

CARL MELVIN CLEA began his journey of life on December 18, 1953, and passed peacefully from his earthly vessel on July 1, 2013. He was the eldest child born to the union of the late Isaac and Mattie Clea. Carl affectionately known as "Melvin" was a resident of Baltimore, Maryland and graduated from Fairmount Hill Junior-Senior High School in June 1972. The September following graduation, Melvin enrolled in the United States Air National Guard of Maryland and as a Reserve of the Air Force. After six years enlisted he completed his military assignments as a Vietnam Area Veteran with an honorable discharge in September 1978. Throughout Melvin's career as a glazier, he was employed with International Painters and Allied Trade Industry Union and several companies across the United States. However, his drive as an entrepreneur found him several different profitable ventures throughout his life. His greatest success and passion was the ownership of Seafood Masters. In 1991, Melvin accepted the Lord into his life. He later joined Israel Baptist Church of Baltimore City where he was an active member of the Security Ministry, Christian Education Ministry as a Sunday School Teacher, and the Men's Ministry respectively. Anyone that knew him would say that he always found a way to talk about the Lord. Melvin was an avid jazz lover and enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others. He was happiest when he was around the people he loved. He also enjoyed opportunities to travel the United States and the world. Melvin was known for his "dapper" wardrobe; from the hat to the shoes. No one could out dress our beloved Melvin. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Mattie Clea and sister Lorraine. He is survived by long time companion, Shelley Gregory; his siblings, Isaac Alfred Clea, Marion Willene Clea and Wayne Matthew Clea (Keisha) all of Baltimore, Maryland; step-siblings, Ellarine Dawson, Sammy Curtis (Jean) both from South Carolina and Grace Thomas from Harrisburg, PA; lifelong/best friend-brother, Emanuel "Chuckie" Curry (Denise); three nieces, Chantel Clea Goins (Lafayette), Briana Clea and Kyemah Clark; two nephews, Isaiah Morris and Joshua Clea all of Baltimore, Maryland; thirteen additional step-nieces and -nephews; three great-nephews, Travis and Tayvon Lewis, Nathan Goins; one great-niece, Jada Lewis; twelve additional step-great-nieces and -nephews; one aunt, Harriet White; godsister, Veronica Monroe; three godchildren, Emil, Emmanuel and Chloe Curry; and a host of cousins, extended family and friends.
