Carlisle McDowell (Carrell), 58, affectionately known as "Bud" was born May 30th, 1959 in Olanta, South Carolina to Betty Robertson and to the late Carlisle McDowell Sr. He departed this life on Saturday, October 28th, 2017 at Sinai Hospital.

Carlisle graduated high school in New York. He gained work experience in the Job Corps, earning his CDL license and becoming a truck driver. He enjoyed driving state to state and even taking a few of his family members on his journey throughout the years. Carlisle respectfully served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1980. He eventually settled in Baltimore, MD and became a member of Unity United Methodist Church.

Carlisle will be remembered for his long dread locs, his soft spoken tone, and his distinct laugh. He loved music from James Brown to Stevie Wonder. His favorite song was "A Ribbon in the Sky". He enjoyed cooking, laughing, spending time with his mother, children and family (even with his dog Missy who he loved dearly).

He is survived by: six children, Carlisle Scott, Theresa McDowell-Freeman, Camron McDowell, Che McDowell, Shonice McDowell, and Lenae McDowell; one sister, Sandra Robertson; one nephew, Matthew Robertson; two nieces, Christine (Niecey) Robertson and Victoria Robertson; twelve grandchildren, and his favorite cousin who he considered as his brother, Willie (Joe Joe) Burgess. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his brother, Carlisle McDowell Jr., Grandson, Joshua Carter Jr., nephew Peter Robertson, maternal grandmother, Avie Burgess (whom he lovingly referred to as "Pheet Heart"), and his maternal grandfather Thomas Burgess.
