Carmeta Celena Aird, daughter of the late Ethle Dixon and Clarence Heywood was born in Kingston Jamaica, West Indies on December 1,1931. She departed this life on April 16, 2015. Carmeta attended elementary and high schools in Kingston. Upon graduating from high school she met and married the late Dr. Sydney Aird. This union produced two children, Jennifer and Kenneth. In the early 1950's Carmeta and her husband emigrated to England where she worked and studied before retuning to Jamaica. In Jamaica she worked for the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation for a few years and in 1964 she emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland and gained employment with Commercial Credit and worked for this company until her retirement. Upon her retirement she was self employed selling Avon Products and Jewelry, an occupation which she enjoyed very much and continued to do until she became too ill to do it anymore. Carmeta had a strong love of God and attended Perkins Square Baptist Church. She was also a member of Bon Secours Health System Silver Seniors. She had a great passion for music and was known as a great dancer. She leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Jennifer; son, Kenneth; stepsons, Kenton and Glaister; grandchildren, Shani, George and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Anasia and Kelise; special friends, Caroline, Rose and James and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.
