Obituary

Carolyn Melinda Cromwell (Lynn), was born to Rosiebell Cromwell on August 4, 1946. From the age of 3 she was reared in Cambridge, Maryland by her grandmother, Estella Cromwell; her aunt, Clara Cromwell Sampson; and her uncle, James Cromwell. Carolyn was called Home to eternal rest on October 16,2014. Carolyn received her education in the local schools of Dorchester County, Mary- land and graduated in 1964 from Mace's Lane High School. After high school, she briefly matriculated at Bowie State College and later completed courses at Apex Beauty School. She worked many years for AAA of Maryland as a communications specialist. 1n 1995 she became a switchboard supervisor at Legg Mason until her retirement in early 2009. Carolyn came to Christ at an early age while attending Bethel AME Church in Cambridge during her youthful years. After moving to Baltimore, she became a faithful member of Emmanuel Christian Community Church. There, she served diligently in many capabilities and especially those related to the church's Women's Day events. More recently, since the closing of Emmanuel, she has been visiting and worshipping at the home churches of her many friends. Carolyn known as "Diva" to her friends for her superior sense of style and fashion. She was always dressed to the nines with a hat, shoes, and jewelry to match. Carolyn was a long-time model with the Flair Modeling Agency. Upon entering a room, she was instantly the center of attention. Carolyn had an effervescent personality that was echoed in her lilting laughter when she was around. She encouraged everyone she encountered with kind words or sage counsel whether in-person or electronically (Facebook). She was a strong community advocate in her neighborhood. She was adamant about a clean building, a clean street, a clean park and a clean city. Carolyn was a diehard Ravens fan who cheered and supported them whenever they played. She had a great passion for traveling, shopping (a coupon queen) and reading. Andfinally, she loved watching movies with her "grandkids" inviting friends to dine in her beautiful condominium, and delighted in the company of her much-loved cat "A lie ". A life well-spent moves to a "morn just began; greet the dawn and not setting sun." Preceding Carolyn on her journey were her grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. Ezekiel Cromwell; her mother, Rosiebell Cromwell and another special aunt, Elizabeth Cromwell. Carolyn leaves to celebrate her vivacious life: special aunt, Clara Cromwell Sampson; aunt, Mozelle Sampson; half sister, Mildred Wilson, eleven first cousins, numerous other cousins and relatives, two "adopted daughters", King Montgomery and Joy Campbell; three very special "grandsons", Nikko Caldwell, Alexander Lann and Evan Lann; longtime devoted friend, Zelda Parker, and a vast host of other very close friends and associates who will remember her fondly as she sets sail to a merciful God.
