Obituary

Carolyn Arlene Keene, daughter of the late Roscoe and Iola Mayer was born on March 16, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on August 7,2016 after a very lengthy illness.

Carolyn was affectionately called fatty, hot dog, GG, Granny, G, and Mom by family and close friends.

Over 35 years ago, Carolyn decided to dedicate her life by water baptism and became a dedicated Jehovah Witness. Carolyn met many friends in the organization. She spent lots of time preaching the good news by doing field service work, bible studies, door-to-door work, and placing publications with her friends and family. Everyone knew that Carolyn loved Jehovah. She preached the Truth to anyone that would listen. Her dedication to Jehovah shined so bright that her sister Jeanette and her nephews Harry and Mandel followed her and became dedicated Jehovah Witnesses as well.

Carolyn loved to cook. You could go to Carolyn's home and get a home cooked meal seven days of the week. Carolyn's favorite foods to prepare were Soul-Food Meals. She loved collard greens, sweet potato and lemon meringue pie, banana and rice pudding, fried chicken, and her famous macaroni and cheese. When she met her soul-mate, Donald Keene (pre- deceased), she became an expert in cooking wild game. Carolyn had no problem giving anyone her recipes. Carolyn was also known for her glam- orous attire. She always dressed to impress and received many compliments for her fashion.

Over the course of being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she raised and adopted a son, Troy Keene. She loved to lecture, and feed young children spiritual food.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her sons, Kevin, William, Derek, Darryl, and Troy; daughter Jacqueline; daughters-in-law, Brenda, Darcel and Don- na; pre-deceased son-in law, John; grandchildren, Shantae, Kevin, Jenee, William, Darryl, Terrell, Montray, Domonick, Troy Jr., Timothy, LaToya, C.J., Amber, Devin, and Derek Jr.; great-grandchildren, Darryl, Kori, Treveonn, and Maurice; sisters, Shirley Burman, Jeanette Jiggetts; pre- deceased sisters, Odessa, Norma, Bea, and Thelma; pre-deceased brothers, Roscoe, Ozell, and Robert; brother-in-law Ronald Keene; sister-in-law Evelyn Keene, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
