was born to the late Earl and
Elizabeth Bennerman on January 12, 1953 in Wilmington,
North Carolina. Carolyn departed this life on November 27,2018 after
suffering with health issues.
After the passing of her mother, Carolyn moved to Baltimore at the
age of nine and was raised by her Grandparents, the late Martha and
Samuel Alston.
Carolyn was educated in the Baltimore City School System and would
go on to work in the health care field for a number of years. But she
would later find her passion by testing her culinary skills at Ner Israel
Rabbinical College, a private Jewish school for males studying to become
Rabbis. She was affectionately called "Big Mama" by the students
who loved her famous soups. Carolyn was admired by her supervisor,
Mr. Bill Goldberg.
Carolyn was blessed to married the love of her life, the late
Theodore Rhodes in 1992.
Carolyn joined St. Martin Church of Christ in the early 1980's and
remained a member under the leaderships of Father P.H. Franklin,
Elder Jonathan J. McFadden, and Dr. Kevin Daniels.
Carolyn was loved by all who crossed her path. She would give up
her last if anyone needed it. She had an affections laugh that would
make anyone smile. However, Carolyn was a no nonsense type women
and she had no problem letting you know how she felt
about any and everything.
Carolyn had a special love for her grandchildren who affectionately
called her "Ma Ma".
Carolyn was fortunate to find love again and was able to spend her
last few years with her fiance, Kevin Cabell.
Carolyn was proceeded in death by the love of her life and her siblings,
Ella, Rudolph, Donald, and Ernest Price.
Carolyn will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Kenneth Bennerman
(Chrissy) and Gregory Miller, Sr. (TyWanda); Six grandchildren;
Shakura, Keith, Tarnal, Sr., Ty-Qwan, Gregory, Jr., and Kian. Two great
grandchildren; Tarnal, Jr. and Tamia. Her Fiance, Kevin Cabell,
One brother, Willie Jones.She also leaves her extended family, The
Jelly Beans (always in her heart). A very special sister- "Webbie
"(Love you girl). Three very special nieces; Leslie, Bridgette, and
Michelle; Extended daughters; Helen (Leon), Sharron (Kenny),
Cynthia, Dominique, Christine, Shanita, and Thomasine. And a
host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
