Carrie V. Ruff "Grannie", daughter of the late Ruth Lewis and Luther Washington, was born on April 17, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on July 11, 2011. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1951, she married John W. Ruff, Jr. she was employed with the Federal Government for over twenty-six years until she retired. Carrie was introduced to Christ at an early age, and later joined Whitestone Baptist Church, where she was an active member until her death. Carrie made umerous friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her as "Grannie." She leaves to mourn; one loving daughter, Betty Riddick; devoted granddaughter, Marsha Riddick; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grndchildren, one son-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
