Obituary

Carroll Lee Williamson Jr., was born on April 19, 1957 to his loving parents, Ruth Louise (Washington) Williamson and Carroll Lee Williamson in Turner Station, Maryland. He departed his earthly life suddenly on July 16, 2017 at his residence in West Baltimore.

Carroll attended Fleming School, Merritt Point Elementary and Dundalk Junior High before moving to Glen Burnie where he graduated from Andover High School in 1977.

Carroll was employed by the University of Maryland Hospital in the Maintenance Department as a Grounds Keeper for several years. The remainder of his working years were with Daystar Enterprises as a landscaper under the ownership of Irving (Squirrel) Chase.

Carroll fathered one son, Travis McQuaige and two daughters, Nicole Williamson and Keona Williamson. He was the grandfather of three granddaughters and five grandsons. Regrettably, he was not the greatest father in the world and often spoke of his misgivings in this regard and desired to do better. Unfortunately, the opportunity did not present itself. However, he spoke highly of his offspring and their accom- plishments; thanks to their mothers, Lisa McQuaige, Angela Morris, and Dianne Jones.

Carroll was always athletic. As a child, he participated in sports activities such as bowling, camping and boating. He excelled in playing tennis. As an adult Carroll's passions were cards and chess and he was challenged by players citywide. Near Druid Hill Park where Carroll resided, his card as well as chess opponents called him "Cheater" because that's who he was to them. According to his sister, Janice, they should have named him "sore loser" because the two of them fought many a day as children because Carroll was very competitive and did not accept losing as an option. He loved to dance to oldies but goodies and was always the life of family parties.

However, his listening music of choice was 98 Rock. Carroll reached out and touched the lives of many people in his circle by keeping in contact daily via cell phone with his one minute calls; always ending with "gotta go now, my minutes are running out." Everyone who knew him has a couple of "Carroll stories" to tell.

Carroll was blessed to have had many caring relatives and special friends who truly looked out for his well-being: namely, his lifelong employer, Irving Chase; father figure/good buddy, Porter (Bay Bay) Newton, Jr., special cousin, Melvin Burrell, ill; close friends, Glossie Grinnan Lewis, Brian and Mary Gray, Celestine Eldridge; Marcia Montrose; dancing partner, Bobbie Swann and a host of others too numerous to mention.

Carroll is survived by his father Carroll Lee Williamson, Sr.; his

son, Travis McQuaige; two daughters, Nicole Williamson and Keona Williamson; granddaughters, Nyla Miles, My-Jay MeCready and Zola McQuaige; grandsons, Maurice Martin, Mekhai Jones, Travis McQuaige Jr., Jaden McQuaige, Nyshawn Williamson; sister, Janice Marie Williamson; his only niece,

Ashley Dominique Mabrey; aunts, Erma Barron, Brenda and Mary Washington, Bertina, Gloria, Eileen, Theresa and Roxanne Williamson and Gwendolyn Fleshman; a special aunt, Beulah Williamson; uncles, Sylvester, Reginald, Alvester and Dwayne Williamson, Robert, Maceo, George and Andrew Washington and numerous cousins.
