Obituary

Cassandra Lee Perkins, was born February 14, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland to Betsy Weinberg and Archie Perkins. Cassandra grew up in West Baltimore and received her education through Baltimore City Public schools. Cassandra was affectionately known to most people as Sandra, Mama, Grandma or simply Ms. Sandra. Sandra was called to rest on the morning of October 3,2016 due to a lengthy illness.

Sandra was known as a devoted and caring person. She started her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Church Home Hospital and later continued her career at Ravens Adult Day Care. She enjoyed providing care and compassion for patients she served. In addition, she was employed as a private duty Nursing Assistant caring for vulnerable adults and those who were ill. Sandra's life was dedicated to helping loved ones in her family, at work and in her community. She was loved and appreciated by many people in the community. Many people in her community often gathered around in her backyard for holiday cookouts that she hosted.

Sandra was independent and determined. After being diagnosed with a critical illness, she did not allow her spirit to be broken. She was a true advocate of "doing for self'. She was compassionate, empathic and had a courageous heart! Some people would say she's just a "good person". Her laughter, companionship and the love she gave others will be truly missed, but never forgotten. Her deeds, efforts and warrior-ship she expressed in caring for others will continue to go in the spirits and hearts of many who know her.

Sandra leaves to cherish fond memories: four children, Bernard Perkins, Cassandra Bailey, Shane Green and Randall Sommerville; three step children, Jerretta, James and Davon; four siblings, Bernard Gillis, Angela Riley and Elton Perkins, sister-in-law, Michelle Gillis; two brothers-in-law, Randall Sommerville Sr. and Anthony Sommerville; mother-in-law, Delores Sommer- ville; thirteen grandchildren,Tamika, Erica, Lemar, Jasmine, Anthony, Joseph, Philyorna; Philnia, Marquis, Mercedes, Shayea, Taylor and Shanadya; four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews plus other relatives and friends.

The following preceded her in death; husband, James Phillip Senior; daughter, Angela Henderson; brother, Fredrick Gillis.
