A loving mother, sister, aunt and friend,
Catherine Crawford
,
daughter of the late Henry Crawford and Ann Louise Jackson,
was born on January 13, 1953, in Shelby, North Carolina. She
departed this life on June 23,2018, after a lengthy illness.
She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School
System at Edmondson Senior High School. After High School,
she worked numerous jobs until she decided that her education
was important and received her Associates Degree from the
Community College of Baltimore. She then went on to obtain
her Bachelor's degree from the University of Baltimore in Sociology
and finally her Master of Social Work degree from the University of
Maryland School of Social Work.
"Cathy" or "Cat" as she was commonly referred to as enjoyed
cooking, music, and spending time with her friends and family
members. Cathy was especially known for her hand dancing ability.
She could often be found attending parties with her sisters. She made
numerous friends during her tenure at Baltimore City Department of
Social Services and in the community as she would frequently assist
those (even strangers) who were in need. While at BCDSS, one of her
co-workers turned closest confidant, was Doris Johnson, which
continued well over 30 years.
She was a supportive mother to her two sons: Jermel Gilliam
and Aaron Brewer yd, her daughter-in-law Christa and five
grandchildren Journey, Noble, Destini, Cameron, and Princeton.
Being one of twelve kids, she leaves to mourn seven sisters and
two brothers. She is preceded in death by her siblings Michelle
and Kevin Crawford. She is survived by her brothers: Richard and
Glen and her sisters: Diane, Joann, Betty, Rochelle, Sheila, Patty,
and Cecelia. Also, a large extended family that includes a host of
nieces and nephews that shall forever remember their
"Aunt Cat."She was loved by many and will be missed by the
numerous lives she has touched.
