CATHERINE "ANN" GERTRUDE LOWMAN, daughter of the late Robert C. and Mary R. Lipscomb, was born on January 1, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland. Catherine, who was affectionately known as Aunt Kit, Tiny, and Fannie, departed this life on January 31, 2014. Catherine spent her early years studying at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School. She later graduated after attending Douglass High School. Catherine married Melvin H. Lowman Sr. on September 29, 1947, who preceded her in death after 57 years together. The couple had and raised two children, Melvin and Sharon. Catherine loved family and friends. The door to her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. After many years as a home maker and mother, Catherine found joy in going to work as a seamstress at London Fog from which she later retired due to illness. Fannie, Aunt Tiny, Kit loved life and filled her time with family, friends, traveling, and hobbies after retirement. She enjoyed visiting many destinations with family, completing crossword puzzles and cheering on the Ravens, Orioles or Tigers (anyone but the Colts since they left Baltimore). Catherine remains in the hearts and memories of her and Melvin's two children and spouses, daughter, Sharon D. Collins (Everett) and son, Melvin H. Lowman Jr. (Geneva); one granddaughter, Rayna Jones (Tyrone [r); three great-grandchildren, De'Marx, Gabriel and Dru Jones; an aunt, Shirley Hawkins; three nephews. Wayne, Cedric, Howard; five nieces, Roslyn, Robin, Suphia, Delane, Roberta, and Sug; a sister-in-law, Cloise Moody; a lifelong friend, Margeline White; and a host of other relatives and friends.
