Obituary

CATHERINE DAVIS MCCROEY was born and raised in Baltimore, MD on May 23, 1950. She was the 3rd of 8 children born to Harold and Birdie Davis. Her father, Harold Davis and 1 sister, Deborah Davis Harrell, preceded her in death. After a short illness she departed this life on Monday, April 14, 2014. She received her formal education in Baltimore, MD public schools and graduated from Western High School. She worked for CSX as an Account Receivable Clerk from 1970-1985. In 2008 she took early retirement from Bank of New York. Cathy grew up in Baltimore and attended the Mt. Moriah Baptist church from birth until relocating to Delaware. Cathy was baptized at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church at an early age and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of the Usher Board, the Young People's Choir and attended Sunday School. Cathy was married to the late Joseph Arthur McCroey in July, 1988 and resided in New Castle, Delaware. Cathy was a faithful and diligent member of Ezion Baptist Church in Delaware until she relocated to Virginia. At Ezion, Cathy performed in The Golden Angels Senior Praise Dance group. After the passing of her husband, Cathy relocated to Virginia to reside with her daughter and son in-law. She was a faithful member of Neabsco Baptist Church, until her health started to fail. Cathy was known to love ice cream, ice tea, creme soda, puzzle books and always had a smile. She always served the Lord in any way she could. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her mother, Birdie Davis of Maryland; two children, Tanisha McCroey Jackson of Virginia, Torrence M. McCroey of Delaware; one son in-law, Anthony Jackson of Virginia; one granddaughter, Gracely McCroey of Delaware; two goddaughters, Tonya Sheppard of Maryland and Valerie Jones of North Carolina; four brothers, Willie J. Davis (Ginny) of Texas, Donall Davis of Maryland, Arnold Davis of Mississippi, and Kevin Davis (Michelle) of Maryland; two sisters, Delores Davis Johnson (Connie) of Maryland and Karen Davis Romeo (Donnell) of Maryland; and a host of relatives and friends.
