IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Catherine Dupree
Mcginnis
September 10, 1950 – June 2, 2017
Ms. Catherine "Pam, Pansy, Cassandra" McGinnis (nee Dupree) after fighting a lengthy illness, died peacefully at home on June 2, 2017 in Essex, MD at the age of 66. Catherine was born on September 10, 1950 in Baltimore, MD to the late Julia Dupree and Chester King.
Pam as she was mostly known as married the late Nathaniel Dargan, from this union, 1 child was born, Robin. Pam later had a second loving daughter, whom preceded her in death, Latessa. Robin and Latessa were here world. She made sure that they didn't need or want for anything.
Pam was educated in Baltimore City Public School System. While she didn't finish, she did go back and obtained her GED. She held several jobs, before beginning her employment at Furst Bros. where she worked for over l5yrs. She later obtained employment at Yellow Transportation until she retired in December 2016. While working at Yellow she became a Supervisor and was loved by many. She had an infectious smile and such giving and motherly personality that the cab drivers called her "mommy."
Pam was loved by many. She was such a loving person that she would do anything for anybody. She was a selfless giver, loved people. If she had it you had it. She loved to have fun and had a great sense of humor. She also had a great sense of style. Even though she would say, she shopped in thrift stores, Wal-mart and those catalogs, she was always coordinated, down to her nails. Her nails had to be done. Even when she was at her sickest she was trying to get those nails done. Just an all around happy person. Pam loved her family, especially her girls Robin and Tessa, her grands and great grands. Wasn't nothing she wouldn't do for them. Her life revolved around them.
Pam loved to eat, especially crabs and Royal Farm chicken, as well as cook. She always had a bag of snacks and' food at work. If you wanted a cookie she had it in that bag. Anything you wanted, She had in that bag. She was also a great cook, she could make a mean potato salad. Everyone that ever ate her potato salad know how good it was. Another one of her past times was watching Law and Order, all of them, CSI, all of them and Criminal Minds. She would watch them all day everyday. And if one was a repeat, she would say" I don't remember that, I must have fell asleep". If you came to visit her you knew you were going to watch one of those shows.
Around December 1986, she was on her way to find Jimmy Baldwin's church. She said somehow she ended up at First Mt. Olive with then Pastor Oscar Brown and there she stayed and became a member and serving on the usher board for a few years. She was faithful in attending church until her illness returned in 2013 which prevented her from worshipping in the church. She Loved Bishop Brown and First Mt. Olive.
Pam was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. She went thru her treatments like a champ, continuing to work full time through chemo and radiation. She was in remission until a reoccurrence in 2009. She fought a good battle then also still working, smiling and enjoying life. In 2013 she was diagnosed with Metastatic breast cancer which meant it had spread to her stomach. They didn't expect her to live and wanted her on hospice care then. But she fought and lived for almost 4yrs. She fought hard and strong, a true definition of a fighter a "Warrior." She will be missed tremendously.
Pam is survived by Her loving and devoted daughter, Robin; 3 Grandchildren, Kennard Taylor, Cassandra Taylor, Aliyah Dargan; 4 Brothers, Curtis Dupree, Sammie King, Isaac King, Lennell King; 1 Sister, Helen Eadie; 3 Great-grand children, Kani Taylor, Charleigh Lee, Demi Brown. And a host of other relatives, friends, and God children. She was preceded in death by daughter Latessa, mother Julia, father Chester, brothers Ricky and Jerome.
