As the sun went down Catherine's spirit rose up to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is good to know the Lord. Oh taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. Psalm 34:8

Catherine Towson, beloved and only daughter of Marcella and Henry Merrick was born on August 1, 1921 in Leland, North Carolina. She departed this life quietly on Monday evening December 19, 2016.

She was raised and educated in both North Carolina and Baltimore after her parents moved here. Catherine held several jobs throughout her life until she retired. She told many humorous and interesting stories of her work experiences.

After coming to Baltimore, Catherine married twice in her life first to Edgar Leon Edwards of Baltimore and later to Jerome Towson Senior of Baltimore. Both husbands preceded her in death. From both unions she had three children Delores, Diane and Jerome Towson Jr. who all preceded her in death.

Catherine received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She joined Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor William McCoy. She served there faithfully until 1988 when she changed membership to Southern Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John D. Torbit Jr. Catherine served there faithfully as a devoted Deaconess and Sunday school member. She rendered great elderly advice and showed an awesome love to the church and all its members. She showed great support financially and spiritually to the church until her death. There was never a time when she did not show love and support for her Pastor.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sister-in-laws, Gloria Williams and Loretta Thompson from Columbia MD; granddaughter, Nicole Arnold; grandson, Jerome Towson III; great granddaughter, Shirley McDonald, great granddaughter Laila Towson, great great granddaughter, London McDonald, daughter-in-law, Valerie Towson and best friend, Selma Davidson, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
