Cecil Lee Joyner was born August 10, 1923 to the late Alfred Collins Joyner, Sr., and Carrie Joyner. On May 22,2013, spirit was returned to one. He was given freedom from the body and eternal rest. Cecil was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He found his life's work in the fields of service. He was a top-notch waiter in many of the different upscale country clubs on the east coast. Many may not have known he could turn on the charm when "necessary". Cecil enjoyed traveling and did to the Caribbean, and throughout the United States. He was his own man and didn't travel with an entourage. He married early in life, and from that marriage, one daughter was born, Sheila Joyner. Cecil was able and responsible for himself until he left this life at the age of 89. Though many thought of him as eccentric, he was a small man in stature, but yet a force that demanded respect. As a family member, he was always there in a crisis. He attended family events religiously, birthday celebrations, weddings, and graduations. Cecil enjoyed betting on the horse races, rolling dice, and playing cards. If there were skill in calculating the odds involved, he would want to play. He was good at it. He was a sports enthusiast. He loved the ladies, and they were fond of him. Cecil Lee Joyner will be missed. Cecil is survived by a loving sister Edythe Wyatt, brother, Alfred C. Joyner, Jr., daughter Sheila, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
