Yearwood
October 19, 1930 – December 12, 2016
Chadwick "Chaddy" Emerton Y earwood, son of the late Joseph and Gladys Yearwood, was born on October 18th, 1930 in Beterverwagting Village, Guyana. He was 86 years old. In 1955, he became a trained teacher after graduating from the Guyana Training College.
Mr. Yearwood married Bernice Eugenia Lambert on August 8th, 1959 at Christ Church in Georgetown, Guyana. This union was blessed with four children.
During his early career as an educator, Chadwick taught at several schools.
His last teaching assignment as at Kingston Government School as Deputy Head Master. While working as a teacher, Chadwick attended the University of Guyana and attained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology. In 1971, he made a career change and became a Labor Officer working at the Ministry of Labor for eight years. He then became Personnel and Industrial Relations Manager at Guyana Fisheries for five years before moving on to the Guyana Telecommunication Corporation in the same capacity until his retirement.
Chaddy loved cricket, a sport of which he played for many years representing Beterverwagting and the Malteenoes Cricket Club. He loved all types of pens particularly the Parker pens and spent hours on a daily basis perfecting his penmanship. He also loved reading, especially novels depicting the Old West.
He was a man with a generous spirit and pleasant personality, and he was loved by many. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. Chaddy quietly departed this life on Monday, December 12,2016, in Elkridge Maryland. He was preceded in death by his son Neil Yearwood, brother Herrick Yearwood and sister Clarice Hayes-Ross.
His life will continue to be cherished in the lives of his children: Faith Cummings, Carl Yearwood, and Jude Yearwood; son-in-law Roderick Cummings; daughters-in-law Denise Yearwood and Michelle Yearwood; grandchildren Fabian Yearwood (son), Jerel Yearwood, Kelson Yearwood, Melonee Yearwood, Brandon Cummings, Samantha Cummings, Kameron Yearwood, Maya Yearwood, Kobe Yearwood; granddaughter-in-law Kesha Yearwood and great-grandson Sean Year- wood; brothers-in-law Joseph Lambert and Duke Lambert; sisters-in-law Doreen Simon, Edris Lambert, and Cynthia Kendall; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
