Charles Eldridge Baten, son of John and Catherine Baten, was born in
Zebulon, North Carolina on February 25, 1942. He was the oldest of 3
children. At an early age, Charles moved to Baltimore, MD. He was
Baptized at Browns Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member
under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. Paul Harris. Charles departed this
life on April 21, 2016 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center after a
lengthy illness.

Charles was educated in the public school system in Baltimore City and
graduatedfrom Frederick Douglass High School. After graduation from
High School Charles was employed with Haas Tailoring Company for
over 15 years. Charles then went on to work for Business & Office
Supply Co. Lucas Brothers for 45 years. Through the years Charles a
dedicated hard worker saw many transitions in his employment with
Lucas Brothers to include two Corporate takeovers that ultimately tran-
sitioned the company to what is now known as Staples.

Charles loved to watch T. V. particularly Football and Basketball games.
He was an avid reader, who enjoyed discussions and conversations
about current and past news events.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kristen R. Baten.

Daughters: Carolyn Couser, Melissa Press (Dwane), and Ingrid Me-
Donald, 4 Sons:Gregory McDonald (Cindy), Kells McDonald Jr.
(Karen) Michael McDonald (Rose) and Darren McDonald, (Karen); a
grandson, Kyle Morgan Baten; a goddaughter, Kayla R. McDonald and
a host of Aunts, Uncles, Grandchildren, Great-Grand Children, Nieces,
