IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles
Burman
January 30, 1955 – January 20, 2021
Charles (Chuckie) Burman was the eldest son born to the late Charles Robert Burman, Sr. and Elsie Delores Burman, in Baltimore Maryland.
"Chuckie", the name he was fondly known by, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He received his GED in May 1982. He joined the Army National Guard Reserves in July, 1972 doing his boot camp in Monterey, California. While in the Reserves, Chuckie learned Storekeeping.
In 1975, he landed his first storekeeping job at American Totalisator (Amtote). Chuckie had jobs at various places: University of Maryland Medical System, Up-to-Date Laundry, to name a few. He worked at Bakery Express from 2006 – 2020 when his health began to fail and he could no longer work.
Chuckie wore a lot of hats. As a young adult he became brother/father to his 3 sisters after the passing of their mother. He took on the job and never once complained of his plight or his responsibilities. His grandkids called him "King Daddy". He was also very close to his cousin/twin Helena "Teeny". Other than his wife, she knew and understood him best.
All who knew him knew where you stood with him. If he liked and respected you, he made it known to everyone. He loved music of all genres. So much that he named his son "Ziggy" after David Bowie's alter ego Ziggy Stardust.
Chuckie married his childhood sweetheart Tyra "Pita" Holland. Together they had two children, Charles (Ziggy) Burman, III, and Cori Elsie Burman. They enjoyed family time together, which included spending time with his sisters, Carolyn, Ann and Bernadette. There are so many memories of Sunday outings to the lake in Columbia, Druid Hill Park, and buying food at "Churches Chicken" for dinner. During the holidays, we would go to Valley View Farms. He would always take the scenic route so that we could see Christmas lights in the neighborhoods.
He leaves to cherish his memories his true love Tyra Burman, one son: Charles Robert Burman, III, one daughter: Cori Elsie Burman, five sisters: Carolyn Burman, Ann Snowden, Bernadette Snowden, Donna Burman, and Candace Burman, three grandchildren: Da'Quan Burman, Warren (Mikey) Evans, and Destiny Burman, two great-children: Zuri Burman and Kru Butler-Burman, one sister-in-law: Lisa Burman, one brother-in-law: Folarin (Mickey) Folawiyo, Aunt Rose Moulton, and a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Burman; as well as his grandson Kynard Butler-Burman.
