Obituary

Charles Johnson was born on May 5, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Wilma Mae Johnson and Herbert Roy Johnson. He departed this life on January 20, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Charles joined the U.S. Armed Services when he was eighteen years old. When he was discharged from the service he attended a number of schools, such as Baltimore City Community College and Sojourner-Douglas College, where he received an Associates Degree. Charles held a number of jobs in the counseling and substance abus professions, such as HERO, Man Alive and Turke House. He was an active member of the Sandtown-Winchester Community. He was active member of RAC Resident Action Committee and Habitat for Humanity. He was so loved by his community that a park on Bruce Street and a mural on Fulton Avenue/Lorman Street have been dedication as a testament to his community involvement and dedication. You would always see Charlie sitting on his front steps interacting with persons in his community. He leaves to mourn three brothers, Johnny, Frank and Chris Johnson; five sisters, Shirley Johnson, Rebecca Carolina, Sandra Johnson, Rose Ross and Louise Jackson; six children, Charles Johnson Jr., Rosalind Johnson, Craig Johnson, Tige Johnson, Sean Johnson and Tina Johnson, fifteen grandchildren, seven great-graandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
