Obituary

Charles Edward Palmer, beloved son of the late Mary Dody and Frank Palmer passed away on saturday, June 18, 2011 of natural causes. Charles was known as Billy to his family and Toot to his friends. Charles was born and raised in Baltimore City. He met his late wife Marjorie Palmer at Eastern Overalls and two were married on february 11, 1961. Charles has a son, Charles Bowers and from his union with Marjorie he had three daughters, Janet, sheila and Carol. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Shipyard after thirty-five years of service. One cool accomplishment was when he won a Maryland lottery winner and had his picture in the Baltimore Sun. Charles had two great passions/hobbies in life-jazz and sports. Both started at a young age. His love of jazz was known by anyone who knew him. At one time his album collection was over 2, 500 strong. His all time favorite artist was Miles Davis. He was a member of the Left Bank Jazz Society. He was a devoted Orioles and Colts/Ravens fan but would watch all sports - it was nothing for him t6o have three TVs and the radio blasting at one time. He had season tickets to the Orioles and the Ravens for years. There was another great passion, which was love of food and candy. Whenever someone had an event , party, or any occasion that he couldn't attend it was know to fix him a plate. When he could attend, he culd always "cut a rug" - he never had a problem getting a dance partner. Charles loved life , people, jazz, sports, clothes, eating, dancing, and most important to him was his family with a special place in his heart for his aunt, Dorothy "Geraldene" Walker, who raisded him his mother passed at a young age. Charles is survived by his children; as well as his aunt, Dorothy "Geraldine" Walker, his grandsons, Darris Palmer, Darrin Stewart and Brian Palmer, his cousins, Annette Manning, Ava Herndon, Jeffrey Herndon, Jennifer Smith, Maury Smith, Mable Jones and Haze Ryan, Jr., in-laws, Rossetta "Carolyn" williams, Hattie and Charles Dorsey; and multitude of cousins and friends which includes the staff and patients at Bertha Sirk DaVita Dialysis. Preceding him in death was his grandmother, Fannie L. Sterling; cousins, Robert Jones, Gregory Carr and Patricia Jones; and a grandson, Charles Bowers Jr.,
