IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles A.
Wise
September 4, 1952 – December 17, 2016
Charles Anthony Wis e , son of the late George and Mary Wise, was born on September 4th, 1952. He was the seventh of nine children. Randy, as he is affectionately known, departed this life on Saturday, December 17th, 2016 due to complications after having a sudden heart attack.
Randy always loved school and playing Baseball. He received his early education in the Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Schools. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School through Junior High and during this time Randy established a reputation as an exceptional Pitcher for his Little League Red Sox Baseball team. He was voted MVP three years in a row. He eventually moved on to the Job Corps where he received his High School Equivalency Diploma in 1970.
Although he hit a few bumps in the road, Randy never lost his love for education. While incarcerated, he earned an Associates of Arts Degree with Honors from Hagerstown Junior College and in later years, pursued his Bachelor's degree at Coppin State Univer- sity.
In the 1980's, Randy moved to California and spent over 7 years working in manage- ment for GTE, later known as Verizon. Randy truly enjoyed living in California and inspired several of his siblings to move there as well. When He returned to Maryland, he eventually resumed employment with Verizon as a Maintenance Administrator and was celebrated by the company for his volunteerism during Black History Month. As a volunteer for the "Books & Breakfast" program in Baltimore, Randy combined his love for children, books and theater by reading to school children across the city each week to help them learn to read. Because of his outstanding work with this program, Verizon honored Randy by featuring him in a national ad campaign highlighting his inspiring achievements in the community to combat illiteracy.
Randy's passion for literature and writing led him to establish Streetwise Publishing Inc. With the help of family, he successfully published his brother Dennis Wise's second novel, "In Guns We Trust". Over the years he frequented the local theater scene and always found joy in classic plays and novels by African-American writers. Randy also pursued other entrepreneurial opportunities throughout his lifetime and continued his service in the community by participating in various non-profit organizations that assist transitioning inmates and recovering drug addicts. Just prior to his death, Randy was working as a Recovery Coach at the H.O.P.E Recovery Community Center.
Although Randy was somewhat soft-spoken, he loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He had a creative, giving spirit and loved to listen to Jazz and pursue interests in creative writing and photography in his spare time. His genuine smile, huge laugh, and humorous nature will be missed most by those who loved him.
Randy loved his children: Merrisa Hall, Kareem Boyd, and Vada Thomas and Grand- children: Kyree and Jalen very much. He also leaves to mourn three brothers: Michael, Dennis, and Bruce, one sister: Sharon, one brother-in law: Kenneth, 10 nieces and nephews, his best friend: John McDonald, his special friend: Angela Callahan, and a host of other
