Obituary

Charlie Parker, son of the late Pricillia Parker, was born March 15, 1927 in Stoneville, North Carolina. On Sunday afternoon, July 24, 2006 God called him from labor to reward. Charlie received his formal education in the public schools of Stoneville, North Carolina. At the young age of 16, he moved to Washington, D.C., where he lived for several years before finally settling in Baltimore, Maryland. He met and married Alberta Clark in August 1953; she preceded him in death on November 2000. To this union four children were born- one daughter, Rita Parker, and three sons, Gregory, Tyrone and Barry Parker, all of Baltimore, Maryland. When Charlie was a young man he had a passion for cooking and woked as a cook in several different restaurants in Baltimore City. He later became employed with Chesapeake Cadillac Company from which he retired in 1985. Charlie loved to work, which is why even after he retired he continued to work at Foreign Motors of Baltimore until his death. Charlie confessed Christ as his his personal Savior in 1970, and joined Siloam Freewill Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Ernest Wooten Jr. He became an ordained decon of the chruch in 1972, an office he served faithfully until his death. In addition he was a faithful member of the Soul Winning Union, the Male Chorus and the Gap Choir. He also served as the van driver for the Churchoperated Food Distribution Program for the needy citizens of Baltimore City. Even though Decon Parker was often times very weak, he was in Sunday School every Sunday morning unless he was on vacation or in the hospital. Decon Parker had a gentle, kind spirit and he always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone. He loved his wife, his family, and his church family and he was a faithful servant of the Lord. He leaves to cherish a lifetime of memories: a devoted daughter, Rita Parker; three sons, Gregory, Tyrone and Barry Parker; daughter-in-law, Marshall Parker; sister-in-law, Pearl Mayfield of Danville, virginia; nephew, Barry Parker Jr.; four cousins, Barbara Stevenson of Baltimore, Mary Alice, Alberta and James Scales of North Carolina, fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
