IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheryl
Washington
July 3, 1957 – February 22, 2021
Cheryl Washington, daughter of George P. and Detroit Washington, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 3, 1957. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord February 22, 2021.
Cheryl accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age under the leadership of Bishop Emeritus Rosa Horn of the Mount Calvary Pentecostal Faith Church. Cheryl became a member of Mount Calvary and joined the "Sunbeams" children ministry. All the church members waited for Cheryl to march with the "Sunbeams" because she would be the last in line and would take a deep dip as she turned each corner. She brought the "house down.".
Cheryl received her early education at Mount Royal Elementary School, Gwynn Falls Middle School and moved on to graduate from Eastern High School. Soon thereafter, she was employed at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and was a hard worker there for thirty-six years. Cheryl was a go-getter and whenever she was given a task to perform, no one could change her mind. She was determined to get the job done just the way it was given to her. Her employment at the FBI was unblemished and she received promotion after promotion although she commuted from
Baltimore to Washington D.C. for the entire time until she retired in · February 2020 after 36 years of exceptional service.
Cheryl became a member of Saint Phillips Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Matthew Riley, Jr. She was a supportive member of "The Saint Phillips Steppers" with her two brothers and, also worked with the Women's Ministry until her health began to fail.
Cheryl loved her family and did all she could to help family members, especially serving as her mother's caregiver for many years.
Cheryl Washington was preceded in death by her father, George Pinson Washington, and a brother, Earl Alexander Washington. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Detroit Washington (Baltimore, Maryland); sister and caregiver, Marion J. Washington Redd (Baltimore Maryland); sister, Miriam Joyce Henson (Baltimore, Maryland); brother, Atlas Pinson Washington and wife Lourena (Baltimore, Maryland); brother, Larry Darnell Washington (Baltimore, Maryland); sister, Violet Washington (Baltimore, Maryland), sister, Beaunie Vanessa Shird (North Carolina); a faithful friend, driver, and caretaker, Louise Brown and husband Kevin; and a host of family and friends.
