Chestina Chambers of Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Julius & Lillie Mae Wright, was born in Sumter, SC on April 11, 1938. God called Chestina home to rest on Thursday, January 28, 2021 after a brief illness. She was 82 at the time of her passing and the last surviving sibling of 10.

She married the late James Chambers, Sr. in 1956, and of their union, five children were born -- Mona Johnson, Valerie Chambers (deceased), James Chambers, Jr. (deceased), Gwendolyn Chambers and Timothy Chambers of Baltimore, MD.

Chestina was educated by the public school system in Mayesville, SC. She later relocated to Baltimore, MD, where she raised her family and continued her education at Coppin State University, receiving a degree in Social Work / Social Science.

In 1966, she went to work at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), where she was employed for 47 years until her retirement in December, 2013.

She was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church for 47 years and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Chestina loved to travel, play Spades, took pride in her gardening, watch westerns & old movies, attend family gatherings & social functions and spend time with her family & friends at her home or as some would say "Big Mama's". Some of the places she visited were Canada, Las Vegas and Hawaii. She especially loved traveling to visit her nephew, William Wright (known as Sonny) & his family in Philadelphia, PA.

She leaves to mourn her passing -- two daughters: Mona Johnson, Gwendolyn Chambers and one son: Timothy Chambers; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grandnephews and a host of other relatives & friends.
