Obituary

Cheyenne Carter I, son of the late James A. Carter and Nathalee Carter (nee Rowe) was born on September 20, 1949 in North Carolina. He departed this life and walked into eternity on Monday June 26, 2017 surrounded by his wife, his children and his grandchildren.

Cheyenne was born in North Carolina, but lived most of his life in Baltimore City. Cheyenne received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was very intelligent and was especially gifted in mathematics, even attending Baltimore City College High School.

Cheyenne loved to travel, one of his favorite destinations being beautiful California. It was there on March 3, 1980 that he met the love of his life Linda Ruth Washington. This union would be cemented in holy matrimony on May 21, 1981. On that day Linda's daughter Portia would also become apart of that union. This union would stand the test of time and last for 36 years.

Cheyenne wanted to have a son and on March 23, 1981 he had a daughter and instead of naming him Cheyenne Carter II he named her Cheyanna Le'Na Jane Carter. On July 15, 1982 Cheyenne once again thought that he would have a son, and instead of naming him Cheyenne Carter II, he named her Cheylena Juanita Carter. On September 5, 1984 a ray of sunshine lit up Cheyenne's life and he was finally able to name his one and only son Cheyenne Carter II.

Cheyenne was a devoted husband, family man and minister. He loved children, even helping to raise his four grandchildren, as well as being a father to many in his neighborhood. Cheyenne was an entrepreneur and caregiver to the Ms. Blossie Holland, Mr. Ran- dolph Brown, and the late Mark Tinsley. He loved helping people and often encouraged others to start their own businesses, go to school and just try to be the best that they could. He loved sharing the wisdom that he had accumulated over the years and most importantly he loved sharing his love of Jesus Christ.

Many of his hobbies included; reading the Bible, mentoring people, traveling with his family, driving, fixing things, watching westerns and action movies, drawing, sitting on the front porch, feeding the birds, swimming, and flying kites.

His most important mission in life was to preach the Word of God and win souls into the Kingdom of Heaven of which he is now a citizen.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Linda Ruth Carter; his mother, Nathalee Carter; his children, Portia LaShelle Parker, Cheyanna Le'Na Jane Carter, Cheylena Juanita Carter, and Cheyenne Carter II; his grandchildren, Solomon Williams, Amari Ausby, Amad Ausby and Kallista Williams. He was preceded in death by one brother, Cisco A. Carter. He also leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Henry Clanton and Rudolph V. Carter (Janice); one sister, Oletha Carter, one long-time best friend, Jerome Howard and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorial Service Joseph H.
