Christopher Columbus Boyd, born April 29, 1936 in Weedowe, Alabama, was the third of six sons, born to the late John Westley Boyd and Norma Lee Houston-Boyd; two them John J. Boyd and George eddward Boyd have preceded him in death. Christopher departed this life on December 29, 2008 after a long illness. Christopher's early education was in Alabama at Piney Wood Elementary/Middle School and Weedowe High School. He came to Baltimore in 1957. He was employed aft Weiss Kettle Iron Products and was later employed by Port City Press Cooperation until he retired in 1999. Christopher joined Sweet Hope Baptist Church as a transfer member from Shiloh Baptist Church of Weedowe, Alabama. In later years he became a member of New Life Fellowship Church of Christ. He loved to sing Gospel music. Chris sang with The One Way Gospel singer and the Gospel Crusaders. He was a founding and long time menber of the Gospel group called, The Christianairs. they performed at numerous churches, and religious concerts throughout Baltimore and donated funds to charitable organizations. Chris and His groups, spread the gospel through song when ever possible; at family reunions, weddings, and get-togatheers, and have recorded their favorite songs. Christopher put his heart and soul into the Christianairs. Chris was a people person, who would help anybody he could. He was very outspoken, but got along well with everyone. Chris was well loved by people of every color and left a lasting impression on everyone who got to know him. His wife Silvia Lee-Boyd and two sons-in-law, Stanley Henderson and Carlton Robinson preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children Sharon Boyd, Kimberly Boyd-Henderson, Eugene Boyd and Azalee Tasha Johnson; one son-in-law Perry Johnson Jr.; nine grandchildren Shawniquea, Carviento, Kenard, Aisha, Javon, Keneisha, Eugenge, Tanaisha and Jazmynn; five great-grandchildren; three brothers Jessie, Charles, and Matthew Boyd, three sisters-in-law Lois Montrey and Gloria; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
