Obituary

Clarence "PETE' Willis Hawkins, son of Ruby Howell and the late Carl Carter was born on June 20, 1950 in Macon, North Carolina. He departed this life on July 13, 2011 after a battle with the deadly disease of cancer. He received his education in Baltimore, Maryland and shortly after began working at Pittsburg Paint and Glass PPG and worked there until it closed in 1988. Later, Pete began working and manageing the Quantico Car Wash for his close friend Joe Miller. He made numerous friends wherever he went as he was a fun and peaceful person to be around. He loved being at the "Car Wash." As he had expressed so eloquently, the Car Wash was not the "only" game in town, but was the "best" game in town. Also, he enjoyed playing Pinochle with the Guys at the Car Wash, yes believe me, there was a lot of trash talking going on. Back in his day, Pete enjoyed wearing the finest rags, yes Bell Bottoms pants and Wedge Heel shoes were the hit. His first car was a beautiful candy apple red Ford Thunderbird with white interior, "Man it was smooth, just as Him." Clarence was preceded in death by his brother Greg Howell. Clarence leaves to mourn; his beloved mother, Ruby Mae Howell, five children, Antonio, Andre, Nicole, Natasha and LaTonya; three sisters, Grace Kiah, Ivy Tommie McClendon and Evelyn Howell; three brothers, Edgar, Kalwin Yvonne and Calvin. Pete has nine wonderful grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves in mourning a host of relatives, friends and a very special friend, Ms Tamgra samual "Tam.""
