Clarence Wake, son of the lat thelma Carter and William Wake, was born on June 3, 1926 in Middlesex County Virginia. He departed this life on March 4, 2010. He received his education in the Meddlesex public school and graduation from St. Clare Walker. At the age of seventeen he went to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served from June 1944 through June 1950. Clarence retired from Koppers Compay in 1982 after thirty-five years. Clarence married the former Ruby Lievers of Baltimore, Maryland, and out of this union two chiodren were born, Elizabeth and Virginia. He became stepfather to Maurice and Annette. clarence attended First Baptist Church in Harmony Village, Virginia as a child and yuog adult. Later he was a student of world religions. He was a devoted family man. Clarence made friends easily if they came to him. He was gentle and easy to talk to. clarence ws particularly drawn to people who told outrageous stories. He enjoyed people who were characters and he encouraged their banter. Clarence especially loved animals and spoiled the family pets as well as the wild birds and squirrels. He leaves to mourn; his wife, Ruby Wake; their daughters, Annette, Elizabeth and Virginia and son Maurice; four sisters, Sadie Henry, Barbara Stanton, Julia Ragins, Juanita Bowen and Brother, Roland Hill; and a host of friends and other relatives.
