IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence R.
Whitby, Sr.
October 18, 1940 – April 27, 2019
Clarence Robert Whitby Sr., better known as Butch, son of Norman
Whitby Sr. and the late the Delia Whitby, was born in Baltimore, Mary-
land on October 18, 1940. After a lengthy illness, he departed this life on
April 27, 2019.
In his early years, Butch attended Baltimore County Public Schools and
later completed his education at a Community College in Baltimore.
Butch spent fifty years loving the late Betty Puckett and from that union,
they had three children, Brenda, Lamont and Antoine (preceded him in
death) Whitby.
He was a hard worker and held various jobs from an early age. Butch
retired from the Baltimore City Department of Public Works in 2002.35
years of outstanding service.
Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, Butch took pride
in providing for his loved ones. He enjoyed having a good time and his
smile would light up a room. Spending treasured moments with his
grandchildren brought him joy from spoiling Lawrence, sweet talks with
Kyiah and having a laughing good time with Raven. He shared a special
bond with his grandson Derek.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father Norman Whitby Sr; daughter,
Brenda Whitby; sons, Clarence Whitby Jr., Lamont Whitby and Floyd
Weddington; three stepchildren, Alberta Raynor, Walter and Bernard
Puckett; siblings, Marceline Pettit, Brenda Pryor, Beatrice Chapman and
Thomas Whitby, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of
in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
