On Wednesday morning August 14, 2013, nearing the break of dawn CLAUDE JOHN GOODMAN was called home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Maggie Goodman. Claude was the youngest of three children. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age at St. Monica Catholic Church where he was an altar boy alongside his older brother. He was an active member of the United Sates Army and the Navy where he served in World War II. He later worked at Revere Copper and Brass for seventeen years and Giant Food for twenty one years where he retired. He met his wonderful wife Elsie Gaskins and enjoyed a beautiful courtship. On August 28, 1965 they were united in Holy Matrimony. From this unioh they raised six children. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will truly be missed by all. Claude, affectionately known as 'Claudie' by everyone who knew him was a funny man and a father figure to everyone in the neighborhood. He was known for his love of dance. He led a group in one of the first line dances called the Madison for many years and was recognized highly for it. He was a great cook and frequently made the best spaghetti ever! His all-time gift was shared through the lens of a camera. He took pictures at every event from weddings to family events. He spent a lot of time in South Baltimore where he gained some lifelong friendships and great memories. He will be reunited with his mother, Maggie Goodman; daughter Maria Jones; and brother James Moore. Claude's legacy will continue through those who cherish his memory his wife, Elsie Goodman 4 daughters, Melissa Goodman, Michelle Miller, May Lawson, and Teresa Jones one son Darnell Goodman; sister Louise Goodman son-in-law Dillard Jones; 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friend and family.
