IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Claudette M.
Nelson
July 22, 1962 – April 21, 2019
departed this life suddenly on April 21,
2019. Claudette was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 22,
1962 to the late Henry and Gertrude Nelson. She was preceded
in death by four brothers: Joseph (Snooks), Robert (Bobby),
Michael and David; two sisters BettyJean and Geraldine and a
very special niece Jacquetta Parrine. She attended Baltimore City
Public Schools. Lemmel and Walbrook were her favorites.
Dette as she was known to everyone and would spell it out to you
as Big "D" little e-t-t-e, was a childcare provider for numerous
children. She worked as a welder and housekeeper until she left
her job to care for her grandchildren. Family members looked
forward to their birthday and her baking them one of her cakes.
Her nieces and nephews looked forward to her famous cold cut
sandwiches. Claudette loved music and everyone knew the
Whispers were her favorite group. Claudette's house became the
house where various celebrations took place; or you just came to
hang out and see one another. She loved her Dukarelli and
Newports. As much as she loved these things nothing compared
to her love for her children, Barack Obama, and especially her
grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew and
loved her. .
She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters Dionne Scott and
Nakia Brockington, one son Clifton Scott Jr. A special friend
Kenneth Bourne, one son in law, Lamon "PeeWee" Brockington.
Six grandchildren: Shaundrea, Toni, Robert, Tori, Ameira,
Nakeira, two great grandchildren Trejoun and Damiyah, two
brothers Gregory & Barry, four sisters; Gertrude, Theresa, Debra
& Yolanda, two brothers-in-law Aaron and Sylvester, three
sisters-in-law Pat, Betty and Wanda who was her road dog, two
aunts Daisy Williams and Rosetta Nelson, a host of nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
