Obituary

In the aftermath of a historical snow storm, on February 15, 2010, God called His humble servant, Clifton Elwood Gould, Sr. home after a long illness. On August 18, 1928, Clifton was born on Elwood and Geneva Gould in Ridgely, Maryland, Caroline County. He grew up while attending elementary school in Ridgely. In 1941, his family moved to Greensboro, Maryland. He commuted by bus to Denton, Maryland seven miles awaay to attend Lockerman High School. Clif graduated in 1945 and enrolled at the University Of Maryland Eastern shore in 1945. He majored in Industrial Arts for his Backelors Degree. In 1950, after teaching school for one year, he was drafted into the Armed Forces by Uncle ""Sam from January 11, 1951 to January 11, 1953, during the Korean Conflict. In june 1951 he wed his college sweet heart, Essie Mae Harris. A son Bryon, was born wile Clifton was in service. Upon Clifton's discharge from service in 1953, he worked for different companies on the Eastern shore and Baltimore, Maryland. He excelled in Cabinet Making and Carpentry. In 1963, Essie and Clifton jioned Christ Edmondson United Methodist Church. Reverend clyde Nuckles was the Pstor at that time. Clif has remained a true and loyal member ever since. In 1971, Clifton and Essie jioned the Masonic Order of Free Masonry and the Oder of the Eastern Star. they both were active for over 21 years, holding different offices. Clifton was a member and Chair Person of many committees at Christ Edmondson United Methodist Church for over 45 years. He transferred his membership to New Covenant Worship Center at Wildwood Parkway where Reverend Herbert A. Brisbon is the renouned Pastor. Essie passed in February 19, 2003. A son, Clifton, Jr. passed in January 2, 2005. Clifton, Sr. leaves to mourn; five children, Bryon, Cheryl, Derek, Pamela and Kendall; seven grandchildren, Shattu, BJ, Cotina, Keith, Shannon, Antonio and Kendra; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives including two brothers, Lawrence and ronald; two sisters, Betty and Saundra; sisters-in-law, Erika, Jeanette, Beverly Ann and Esola; two daughters-in-law, Deborah and Lisa; close extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and a very dear friend, Muriel West.
