Daisy Mae Green wasbornDecember 1,1940, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Nathaniel and LouiseRutledge in Georgetown, South Carolina. Daisy-Mae was the secondchild bornof her 5 siblings;
Simon, Louise and James & Eva-Mae who later proceeded her in death. Daisy-Mae attendedHoward Elementary, Howard High School, and was a graduate of Livingstone College, a private
historically black Christian college in SalisburyNorthCarolina, which isaffiliatedwith the AfricanMethodist Episcopal Zion Church.
In later years when Daisy-Mae moved to Baltimore, Maryland she met the love of her life, IrvinGreen and hisdaughter Gwendolyn Green.They gotmarried in December of1960. One yearlater, Daisy-Mae and Irvin were blessed with their firstborn, a beautiful baby girlOlivia Green and 6years later with a handsome son Irvin Green. The loving couple created a home filled with love,peace and prayer. Daisy-Mae instilled respect for others, strength, morals and character in all ofthem and encouraged them to instill these same qualities in their children. Their love affairlastedfor 60 yeers until God called Irvin home to rest on February 1,2019.Daisy was knownfor her cooking, baking pies and her crab cakes were the center piece of herhome. She was also known for sellingher Soul food dinners and Sweet-potato pies. On mostSunday evenings, Daisy would prepare a large feast and have the grands over. Holidays were alwaysa big celebration because the entire famIly would come over to eat her special dishes and enjoyeach other. Daisy was an active member of the First Corinthian Baptist Church where she servedas a Deaconess. She loved God and her Christian principals taught her to love and to live in peacewith everyone. She also worked as a nurse at Spring Grove Slate Hospital in Catonsville, Marylandfor over 30 years. Daisy-Maewas known as "Momma" topeople in her community. She wasa volunteer Grandmother for Edgecombe Elementary School and received numerous certificatesfor her volunteer work.
Today we Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Daisy-Mae Green.She departed this life Sunday, March 8, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory,Siblings;Simon Rutledge and Louse Rutledge.Children;Irvin Green, Olivia McGIll, and Gwendolyn Green.Sisters-In-Law;Mrs. Delores Rutledge and Mrs.Shirley Rutledge.Grand-children;Cierra, Tevon and Talaya Green,Freeda and Kerime GnDin, and TancksMooje.Great Grand children;Dequen, Keyla, Destiny, Tristan, and Nasir. God Son;GraylaIl Keanse.Close Sister-Friend of over 70years; Ms. Ella Brightmon.Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a Hostof other relatives and loved ones.
