IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dana Michael
Moore
February 17, 1955 – December 11, 2025
Dana Moore Sr. was born on February 17, 1955, in Queens, New York to Walter and Mamie Bartley. Dana transitioned peacefully on December 11, 2025. Dana lived a full life rooted in family, faith, service, and love.
Dana grew up in the Bronx and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. He pursued higher education at Bronx Community College and later deepened his spiritual knowledge by studying theology, graduating from the Bible Church of Christ. Dana served honorably in the United States Navy and served in countries across Europe to include Italy and France where his love for travel sparked. He also began his career in public service by becoming a correctional officer when he moved to Maryland in 1997. Dana later continued his service with the Harford County Sherriff's office, earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike. Alongside his public service career, Dana was also an entrepreneur. He founded a successful cleaning company, Moore Enterprise, where he secured major contracts with organizations like Mercedes-Benz and AAA. He approached both his law enforcement work and his business ventures with dedication and integrity.
Dana's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He became a born- again Christian at the Bible Church of Christ - the ministry where he first embraced his faith and later obtained his theology degree. Ordained as an Evangelist, Minister, and later an Elder, he faithfully served through New Destiny Evangelistic Ministries and Abundant Family life Ministries, preaching the Word with conviction, compassion, and humility.
Dana had an insatiable curiosity and a zest for life. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in history, and he enjoyed learning new languages and exploring different cultures. He and his wife, Venice, visited destinations around the world - including Senegal, Cairo, Hawaii, Mexico and most recently, Aruba. They were already planning their next adventure to Rio De Janeiro so he could practice his Portuguese in Brazil.
Those close to Dana will remember his warm personality and trademark sayings. One of his favorite expressions was a cheerful "Yeah Yeah", which he often said with a smile. He had a playful side and was not afraid to gently bend the rules when it came to life's conventions - all while staying true to his deeply held biblical principles. Dana's unique blend of humor, wisdom, and faith made a lasting impression on everyone he met and his presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dana is predeceased by his older sister, Gail Baxter and his eldest grandchild, Leilani Moore, whom he is now reunited with in heaven. Dana is survived by his loving wife, Venice Moore. He is also survived by his four children, Dana Moore II, Tara Jordan, Kimberly Farris, Lindsay Moore and their mother Helen Hoffman and their grandchildren; Emory Jordan, Kendall Farris, Cameron Farris, Raphael Jordan and Julia Jordan.
Dana's legacy is one of service, faith and love. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, a loyal friend, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, a dedicated law enforcement officer, a successful entrepreneur, and a man after God's own heart. His unfailing kindness, generous spirit, and deep love for his family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless lives he touched.
" We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8
