Obituary

Daniel Carey, Jr. affectioonately called ''Jed'' was born August 29, 1950, the third child to the late Daniel Carey, Sr. and Novella Carter Carey in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public SDchools and later went to Jobs Corps. Daniel joined The Church of God and Saints of Christ at an early age under the pastorship of the late Elder Charles Johnson. Daniel made his career as a Longshoreman until his health failed. His hobby of crafting wood was a sight to behold. Daniel could take piece of wood and make practically anything out of it. How do we know? Because he built a SHIP! This ship remains on his mother's mantlepiece today, bearing the name ''Novella'' and ''Daniel.'' He also trained pigeons, loved to skate and received boxing trophies. Daniel was a caring, loving and compassionate son and brother. He Loved his Mama, he took care of her until he could no longer physically be with her, but from his besdside he saw to it that she wanted for nothing. His mother was his heart, his everything. He knew that going to Belleville, Virginia to celebrate Passover was a Spiritual Joy to her, so he saw to it she was there. He constanly gave the message to his siblings to ''do the right thing'' and you can be anything your heart desires.'' Jed''s joking and teasing ways will trully be missed by all who knew him. He leaves those who loved him deeply; his loving devoted mother, Novella Carey; four brothers, Draper Carey, Andrew Carey, Hezekiah Carey and Samuel Carter; sister,Christine Carey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
