Obituary

David James Cockey, son of the late Earl Sewell and the late Alma Mildred Randolph (Cockey) in Baltimore, Maryland. David was the oldest of eight siblings. David departed on Saturday December 5, 2020.

He attended Baltimore City Public Schools, graduated from Fredrick Douglass High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army.

During his life journey he attended Coppin State College and the University of Maryland. David loved spending holidays and family time with his family and friends.

A typical fun day for David would be riding his bike, cruising on his moped, fishing, sightseeing and enjoyed a home cooked meal! Enjoying a nature walk and viewing wild animals would complete his day. David enjoyed watching Documentary TV, learning new things on the History channel and listening to some music. David was a very detailed reader and enjoyed it. He loved taking pictures on his phone and would enjoying showing them off to different people. If you were lucky enough to hold a telephone conversation with David, you knew to prepare for at least an hour long talk because he would spend forever telling you the step by step details on how his day has gone! David was fortunate and happy to be able to assist with the care of his mother in her last days. David did have faith in God.

David leaves to mourn two daughters - Annette Matthews Jenkins (Marvin) and Kelli Hendricks McGowan (Greg); his four grandchildren, Jason Matthews, Ryan, Briana and Mia McGowan. David also leaves to mourn five sisters, Rose Foote, Sheila Roper (Alonzo), Mildred Green (Frank), Charlene Brown (William) and Pamela Randolph; two brothers, Maurice Randolph, Kevin Randolph and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
