Medlin, Sr.
October 26, 1934 – May 4, 2018
Mr. David Day Medlin Sr., affectionately
known as "Rudy" or "Mr. Rudy" to family and friends,
son of the late Henry and Fannie Davis Medlin, was
born on October 26, 1934 in Scotland, North Carolina.
At an early age, Rudy had been brought up in the
church and taught to trust in God. He joined Mt.
Hebrew AME Zion Church in Parkton, North Carolina.
He worked for 25 years at WF Wilson Construction and
20 years at Allen Mitchell Construction operating heavy
equipment and machinery. David loved football and
baseball. His favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens
and the Baltimore Orioles. David was the youngest of
all his siblings who had preceded him in death. Those
siblings were Benny, Herbert, Henry, Olinder, James,
Vasteen Rich, Amezell Deberry, and Rosie McEachin.
His daughter, Brenda Ann Medlin also preceded him in
death.
Rudy has passed from this life to the heavenly
realm to join his parents, siblings, and eldest daughter
during the early hours of Friday morning on May 4,
2018 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He
leaves to mourn his loss and cherish his memories: his
six sons, Michael Crim and his wife Pamela, David
Medlin Jr. and friend Stacey, Daryl Medlin, Shawn
Medlin and his wife Rasheeda, Christopher Medlin and
Portia, and Jay Henderson; his 3 daughters, Kathy
Medlin, Chaniece Mobley and husband Dedric, Valerie
Preston and Kiam; his devoted friend, Darlene Parker;
40 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a multi-
tude of other relatives and friends.
