Obituary

David Phillips III was born on August 4, 1963 in Washington D.C at Freeman Hospital. He was the youngest of eight children, born from the union of Fannie Doris Kirtz Phillips and David Phillips Jr. David was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, eventually pursued higher learning at Baltimore City Community College. Through the year's he worked various jobs. He finally found his career passion as a dedicated Cross Country long distance Commercial Trucker.

He loved the freedom of the open road, he was never one to stay put! He shared many stories about his cross-country ventures. After 25 years of Trucking, David had to come off the road due to health issues, This broke his heart. However, he continued driving locally until his health began to decline.

David was a man of deep faith. He would spend hours, while traveling on the road read- ing and studying Biblical Scriptures. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the word with others. He found joy in the simple things in life, such as spending time with his nieces and nephews, whether it was going to an amusement park, attending their sports events, and watching a wrestling match, or just simply engaging in a video games. David got great pleasure spending time with his nephew Little Kenny. They would engage in deep conver- sations for hours talking about social events, and just life experiences. They shared a special bond. While growing up he developed an infinity for anything with wheels (skate boards, bikes, cars and trucks). David never stayed indoors but you could always find him at the Mount Washington swimming pool, Luckman Park, or riding through the neighbor- hood on his shiny red bike.

He could be a bit stubborn at times but never disrespectful, If you told him he couldn’t do something he would set out to prove you wrong. He was resilient determined and in- tentional. _ He was an avid sports fan, he spent his Sundays and summer nights cheering passion- ately for his favorite local teams, The Ravens, Orioles and the Maryland Terps.

His favorite time of year was the Holiday Season. He loved being surrounded by family. When David entered the room he would announce his presence with “Hey”, then came a big smile, followed by the robust sound of laughter, His laughter would cause everyone else to join in! He purposely brought the party when he entered the room, whether he was vibing to the lyrics of old school, soulful melodies, singing to karaoke or feasting on some good old fashion home cooking.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Phillips Jr. and sister Linda Gail Phillips. Left in the continuation of celebrating David’s Legacy; His mother Fannie Doris Kirtz Phillips and siblings: Johnny Edward Phillips, Cynthia Lee Phillips-Moore, Vanessa Fletcher (Francis), Tony Leon Phillips, Miguel Phillips, Rickie Benito Phillips (Donna). David also leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his beloved friend Sheran Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
