August 23, 1932 – April 9, 2019
David Edwards Sf. son of the late Jesse Boone and Blannie Edwards was born
August 23, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life suddenly on
April 9, 2019.
He was an only child and raised by the late Elizabeth Wright, due to the death
of his mother shortly after his birth. Being an only child, he decided early in
his life that he wanted a large family.
He received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools.
David met and married the love of his life Barbara Carter.in 1952. They were
married 55 years before she was called home to be with the Lord. From this
union 9 children were born'. He was very dedicated to his family and always
stressed the importance of family sticking/staying together.
He retired from Domino Sugar (Amstar) after 44 years of service. He started
there as a laborer and worked his way up to a mechanical engineer. Due to his
hard work and dedication, his coworker called him "killer".
David enjoyed fishing, singing (especially Nat King Cole), playing music for
his neighbors, playing cards, watching sports and reading the newspaper. His
neighbors enjoyed his music so much that started calling him "radio man".
Several years after retiring, he enjoyed going to the casino.
He leaves to cherish his memories: 7 daughters, Rosalind Fortune (James),
Shelia Alston, Jean Smith, Jeanette Edwards, Glynese Spicer (Jerone), Bever-
ly Manigo (Karlus), Teresa Fleming (Kevin); 2 sons, David Jr. aka Davy
Crockett & Bryant; 1 sister-in-law, Gloria Beverly; 15 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death, wife Barbara; daughter Barbara Ann; 3 grandsons,
Joseph Cooper, Dontay Cooper and Dale Franklin; 1 god-daughter Wanda
Williams.
